It is the EPEDC's intent to help local communities assess their housing needs and provide them with access to programs for assistance.

A need for both elderly and assisted living facilities in the region, as well as affordable housing opportunities for low-to-moderate income families, was previously identified. The EPEDC is also acutely aware of the pressing need for an increased number of quality homes and apartments available for purchase/rent by incoming members of the local workforce.

Viable development also includes the destruction and cleanup of unsuitable housing to provide lots for new development, the rehabilitation of stable and/or historic structures, and the generation of sustainable financing models.
